WHAT OUR PARENTS SAY

“I would like to begin by introducing myself, my name is Sarah Anderson. My son, Cameron Eaton, is an alumni graduate from the class 2018 to 2019 at WY’ East Mountain Academy. Cameron attended WY’ East both his junior and senior year of high school. Summer of 2016 he attended High Cascade Camp, met the snowboard coach for WY’ East and we have been family with WY’ East Mountain Academy ever since. Cameron’s years at WY’ East were some of the most poignant years of his life. Everyone he worked with directly at the WY’ East has always been looking out for Cameron‘s well-being. Cameron gained a fantastic education, trained in snowboarding, began to find himself and how to become more independent growing into young adulthood. The friendships that Cameron made, with students, teachers and other amazing staff alike, have continued after graduation. Cameron continues to stay in touch with the staff at WY’ East, stopping by on his way to go snowboarding at Mount Hood, meeting at a premier, stop by for advice on continued snowboarding and educational aspirations. As a parent, WY’ East Mountain Academy, kept my worries at ease (as best they could). Giving me the position to leave my only child to go away to school at 16 years old. The year prior Cameron and I had moved from Illinois to Seattle for my job change. He had said knowing how much he loves snowboarding, that his life was meant to live in the mountains. I knew the excitement in his eyes that his dreams and aspirations of potentially becoming a pro snowboarder may come true. I was able to put trust into the staff, his coach and into my son as well. Knowing he would be safe and well cared for. That commitment from WY’ East Mountain Academy continues and I look forward to what maybe ahead! ”

“It was a real pleasure for us to assist at the beginning of school year. We’ve been very reassured by meeting all the staff, and very confident in the Academy’s ability to make kids (specially ours) grow up, become smarter and obtain good results at school. Last year, as you can read further, we are very proud that Boris progressed much more than we could imagine. Boris had a rough start to the year primarily because of the language barriers that he experienced; however, his English has significantly improved over the course of the year and so has his effort in school. His grades increased as the year progressed and with your help we anticipate Boris will continue in a positive direction next year.”

“This past winter, Joey has told us repeatedly how much he loves being at Wy' East and what a huge impact it has made on his life. He told me this week he has made friends for life. It truly means something to hear your child tell you how happy they are as a parent. Hearing this from him tells us we have made the right decision. Joey is very passionate about his sport and has learned so much from Wy' East's excellent instruction, leadership, and positive atmosphere.”

“I just want to say a huge Thank you! Gus absolutely loves Wy'East Academy. From your Coaches, teachers, Life Coaches, students and B.O.B - it all sounds amazing - the best experience of his life he told me!! It is a huge relief to us that he has settled in and is making the absolute most of this opportunity. He tells me that he wants to finish his schooling there. We tell everyone the  Academy actually sounds even better than the website shows!! 😏 Many Thanks to everyone at Wy'East.”

“We enrolled our son for the Fall of his Sophomore year for mountain biking after he attended a summer camp at Milepost 35. We were nervous about making such a big change but decided to give it a try for a semester as it became clear that public school was failing him on many levels. Within just a few weeks we knew we had made the right choice. He is engaged in academics for the first time, motivated by the athletic team, making great friends and excited about his future, even discussing college as an option, something he had not been interested in pursuing in the past. He now wants to complete his education at Wy'East Mountain Academy. His academic progress has been amazing, but even more than that we are impressed with his motivation and confidence improvement. The school provides constant communication and access to staff if there are any concerns or questions. We are very pleased with Wy'East Mountain Academy.”

“Wow! What a difference your school has made. Carson says he loves his school and that is huge for Carson to have anything positive to say about school. He said it makes him “feel good about himself”.

“I left my son at Windells Academy last week for his first year at Windells, transferring in as a High School sophomore. I flew home completely inspired and in awe by the quality of the coaching, the academic standards and the overall intelligence and passion of everyone on the staff and alumni that I met. Our family is so excited by the possibilities that an education at Windells Academy will offer our son. I honestly left feeling energized myself from the stimulating conversations. It is the most unique place.”

FROM OUR ALUMNI

“As a 12 year old kid, I always had dreams of being able to go to Windells for summer camp. I had dreams of being able to progress in both skiing and skateboarding. Little did I know that my freshman year of highschool I would receive the offer to attend Wy’East Academy for the remainder of high school. Wy’East Academy changed my life. In 4 years I have grown so much as an athlete as well as a person. The people I have met, the places I have gone, the education I received all helped me grow into the person I am today. Being at Wy’East academy gave me the opportunity to progress in the sports. The world class training facilities gave me every opportunity to better myself. From two of the best skateparks in the pacific northwest to the iconic Mount hood just thirty minutes from each other. Graduating this spring made me realize how much I love this school. I am currently living in Salt lake City, Utah to train and progress and Park city.”

— Jed Waters, Class of 2020

“For two years of my high school career I was lucky enough to call Wyeast Academy my home. Never would I have thought that attending Wyeast would change my life in the best way possible. When I first showed up to Wyeast I was just a young kid that had a strong passion for snowboarding and wanted to learn everything I possibly could. Over the course of two years the staff at Wyeast helped me grow to be the best person and snowboarder I could possibly be. I learned life lessons that have stuck with me in my everyday life to this day. My perspective on snowboarding and my skills drastically improved from my time spent at Wyeast as well. I am now working on filming my own street parts as well as expanding my knowledge into other subjects to help better myself in the future. With Wyeast Academy and all of the staff members by my side over the past years I am able to follow all of my dreams and aspirations which I could not be more grateful for.”
