SKATEBOARD

For over a decade, the Wy’East skate program has been empowering our students through the scope of skateboarding and education to become better humans in all facets of life. Our goal is to provide skate specific training that enables our athletes to maximize their individual potential while still having fun. Our experienced instructors are passionate skateboarders that teach with integrity, excitement, safety, and progression. We believe that skateboarding is way more than just an activity, it’s a way of life. Whether you’ve just started skateboarding and want to learn the basics, fine tuning your skills or want to train competitively we offer an all encompassing program for all levels.

GOAL ORIENTED

We use a specific goal setting system to lay the foundation for success and accountability unique to each individual skateboarder. Step one to this system is establishing KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators). This is where both short and long term goals are established. The skateboard program KPI’s are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Based (SMART Goals), which are transparent to parents, students, coaches, life coaches, and academic staff. It is this entire 360 Support system that helps ensure student growth and success at all stages.

NETWORKING & INDUSTRY OUTREACH

The Wy’East Academy is the result of 30 years of summer camps on Mount Hood. Throughout those years, endless and continuous relationships have been made. We use these relationships to introduce our students to what life is like inside the skateboard industry. From how to create next level, advantageous media content to touring facilities like Volcom, Deluxe, DC shoes, or getting a private skatepark session at Thrasher. The goal with our industry outreach is to open doors for our students to build their own relationships with brands they identify with.

FALL SEMESTER

Fall semester is one of the best times of year to take advantage of not only our incredible facilities on campus but also a time when we get to explore all of the great skateparks that the northwest has to offer. Between Oregon and Washington skateparks the options are bountiful. A goal in our skate program is to encourage the students to push past their comfort zones and skate everything. Exposure to 100 plus skateparks in the northwest alone does just that.

WINTER SEMESTER

Winter Semester is a great time to take full advantage of our new 12,000 SQ. ft. indoor skatepark. This park was intentionally designed to offer a wide variety of terrain for every skateboarder. From street to transition, beginner to advanced, our skatepark offers something for everyone. In addition to the skatepark, this creative space includes a new rock climbing wall, an Olympic-sized super trampoline, two flybed tramps, and a 20×20’ air bag, which are absolutely perfect for dialing in new tricks before bringing them to concrete.  To keep with the spirit of variety, winter semester is also a time to travel. Since skateboarding can take you all over the world, we typically plan three to four trips during our winter semester and strive for at least one international experience that will expose the team to different cultures.

SUMMER SEMESTER

Summer semester is a unique opportunity for a myriad of reasons. The warm weather provides the best opportunity to take advantage of our 28 acre campus. Appropriately named the Concrete Jungle, our outdoor skatepark offers over 50,000 SQ ft. of skateable terrain. The Jungle is considered one of the most unique skateparks in the Northwest and can be seen featured in major skate publications and media outlets. With summer skate camp in full effect, this is the one time of year that the academy students get to interconnect with camp life. From the energy of our signature session pros to personalized clinics with our experienced instructors, dozens of camp activities and the chance to connect with other like minded peers it goes without saying, summer semester is one of a kind. Not only is skateboarding at an all time high, this semester allows for students to enroll in extra classes to lighten their academic load or get ahead and earn their high school diploma early.

Influenced by weather, students can depart campus daily to skate the hundreds of options they have within the region, travel around the world to skate, or simply wake up and skate right out their front door.

Want a job in the skateboard industry? Look no further! Brian has a lifetime in the industry and knows how to get it done by being first a rad person that people want to hang out with. Relationships are the baseline and when you're in a community that wants to skate everywhere and everything you will be stoked you came in to his program. And if you ever get bored of skating for a few minutes or few hours he will take you out and show you the name of that frog, lizard, tree, and why things work the way they do in nature. I still can’t believe we have this amazing human running this program. Come see what all the hype is about!
