Covid-19 Health Protocols

Wy’East’s experience and heritage in action sports has always made the academy good at risk mitigation and has enabled us to have a keen focus on the health and safety of our students. In this COVID-19 era we’ve implemented and refined many new protocols. We also follow all guidelines recommended and/or required by the CDC, Oregon Department of Health, Oregon Department of Education, Oregon Department of Human Services, and the American Camp Association.

We strongly encourage all students to be vaccinated, however as for the requirements to do so, we adhere to whatever current state or county regulations are in place.

Facilities

  • All commonly used surfaces will be disinfected regularly including major touch points like door handles.

  • Dispensers containing hand sanitizer with an alcohol content of 60% or greater have been placed in highly trafficked areas around campus.

  • Signage regarding proper hand washing hygiene are placed around campus as a reminder for students, campers and staff.

Transportation

  • All commonly used surfaces will be disinfected regularly including handles, seats, radio knobs, seat belts, etc.

  • Hand sanitizer with an alcohol content of 60% or greater will be in each vehicle.

Students

  • Eat right, stay healthy: students are prepared three meals per day that meet the nutritional and caloric demands of young athletes.

  • Sleep right, stay healthy: with lights out at 11pm and wake ups at 7am, students are assured of at least 8+ hours sleep each night.

  • Hand washing and sanitizing will be encouraged throughout the day by staff, teachers and coaches. Students are required to wipe down fitness center and other equipment after use.

  • If a case of Covid-19 occurs on campus, our protocol follows the CDC guidelines for suspected and confirmed Covid-19 cases in K-12 settings. Any student who is experiencing respiratory or gastrointestinal infections, such as cough, fever, sore throat, vomiting, etc. should stay in their rooms and will be tested for Covid. Their meals will be delivered to them and they will be advised to refrain from socializing in their cabin common areas and asked to wear a mask. Even if their test results are negative they should stay out of activities until they are feeling well enough to join. If professional care is needed, an in-person or TeleHealth appointment will be made for the student with parental guidance and permission. If a student tests positive for Covid-19 they will stay in an isolated room and their meals will be delivered to them. If they have no symptoms but are Covid-19 positive they can leave isolation after five days. If they are Covid-19 positive and have symptoms they will leave isolation once they've had no fever and lessening symptoms for at least 24 hours up to the five day checkmark. If they have not achieved this checkmark, the five day clock will reset. If any sickness or injury occurs parents will be contacted immediately.

The Blueprint For a Safe School

The Oregon Department of Education requires that each school submit to it and post its blueprint for safe school operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
