A variety of global and regional companies stem from the Northwest, and Portland in particular. Oregon has become the unofficial capital of the action sports world. Understanding the “behind-the-scenes” components of the snow sports industry is an important part to becoming a well-rounded athlete.
The following list highlights just a handful of the companies Windells Academy students visit during the school year
It is true that the majority of aspiring snowboard, ski and skateboard athletes will find it difficult to make a successful career out of their sport through competition, but there is a thriving industry that revolves around action sports. Windells Academy offers students the opportunity to see behind the scenes of how companies operate through tours, meetings with the decision makers and experiencing first hand how product is designed and manufactured. This experience gives students invaluable insight to see what it takes to run a successful business. Windells Academy students are presented with these unique opportunities as a result of the strong position Windells Camp holds in the action sports industry. We look forward to the coming years as students graduate and move on to working with many of these companies or even starting their own business.
