Keene named Director of Perfromance

MOUNT HOOD, OREGON, April 11, 2016 – We Are Camp and Bud Keene announced today a new partnership naming Robert “Bud” Keene of BKPRO as Director of Performance for We Are Camp, parent company of Windells Academy, Windells Camp, and High Cascade Snowboard Camp.

With nearly 25 years of coaching experience, Keene has lead many of the greatest action sports athletes such as Shaun White, Gus Kenworthy, Hannah Teter and Duncan Adams to achieve global success with X Games, Dew Tour, and Olympic medals. “I am so stoked to be forming this alliance with We Are Camp”, states Keene. “For years I have recognized High Cascade and Windells as industry leaders and marks of excellence within action sports. For BKPRO to now become a part of that family is truly a dream come true.”

As Director of Performance Coaching at Windells Academy, a private high school for skiers, snowboarders, and skateboarders, Bud will lead all aspects of the student-coaching program. Students will kick off the school year in September working with Bud over the course of several weeks to focus on physical and mental training, goal setting, and creating individual student athlete performance plans for the year. On snow, students and coaches will have sessions with Bud in New Zealand in October, then back to North America for a series of BKPRO Progression Camps and private Academy training sessions and competitions throughout the 2016/17 school year at places such as Mammoth, Mt. Hood, Copper, and Breckenridge. “Any student athlete that is serious about their personal growth needs a supportive family, great coaching, and facilities that give them an advantage to progress faster and minimize risk,” said Academy President, Chris Hargrave. “This partnerships ensures our students will have the best program, hands-down, to achieve their goals and dreams.”

BKPRO camps will continue its specialty camps around the US and elsewhere, offering world-class coaching and guidance for athletes of all ages and ability levels; now as part of the We Are Camp family, BKRPO campers will have the option to experience the housing, activities, and supervision for which High Cascade and Windells are known.


At Mt. Hood this summer, BKPRO will enter its third summer offering BKPRO Progression camps with two sessions each at Windells Ski Camp and High Cascade Snowboard Camp, June 26 – July 3 and July 6-13. The summer camps, which operate June – August on 100% real snow, featuring two high-speed quad chairlifts and exclusive rope tows servicing the camp’s 22’ Olympic-size Super Pipe and BagJump™ along with acres of progressive rail and jump features designed to facilitate the BKPRO and We Are Camp coaching programs. Off snow, the program is strongly supported with nearly 100,000 sf of progressive skate parks, trampolines, foam pits and BagJumps™, making camp the perfect venue to host BKPRO and all levels of performance programs. Hargrave added, “we have always been a company with the perfect people, place, and passion to innovate our industry and empower talented people to take amazing steps and inspire big things.”

All year long, our student-athletes have been working hard to achieve their goals. For most of them, the season started in September, where they began training at our Private Park on Mt Hood. Everyday from there, moved them one step closer to their objective. Thru the tramp training, the gym sessions, the sweat and the tears, they learned what goes into achieving a goal. All their work accumulated into National Titles, various podiums and invitations to exclusive competitions all over the world. Spring Has Sprung: Windells Academy Explores Oregon

Oregon’s landscape is diverse to say the least. The Windells campus is located in the Mt Hood National Forest which is made up of dense evergreen trees, abundant waterfalls and is situated on the volcano studded Cascade Mountain Range. If you drive 2 hours West from campus you’ll end up on the Oregon Coast. The 363 mile coastline is quite varied, with craggy cliffs and coves to windswept sand dunes. Drive 2 hours East from campus and you’ll end up in the high desert which averages only 15 inches of annual rainfall. [Read more…]

Alex Beaulieu-Marchand (ABM) is a name that is becoming synonymous with style in the sport of freeskiing. Growing up in Quebec City, Canada, ABM was surrounded by a constantly growing freeski scene that provided him with access to top-tier terrain parks. While at the ski park near his home he saw another skier doing flips and immediately wanted to try it. With regular weekend family trips to the local mountains, his skills quickly developed.  [Read more…]
