Session 4 here at Windells was Armada week, where Tanner Hall got his first days back on his skis in over a year. Pros, campers, and coaches were throwing down on the jumps and on the rail line. The on-campus dry slope acrobag saw a lot of action as well, as campers are getting ready to bring doubles to the snow. Watch the video for further evidence…

Session 4 was a heavy one, both on and off the snow. Tech-Nine was at Hood for their Team Session here at Windells and T9 team riders MFM, Jonah Owen, Dylan Thompson, Lucas Magoon, Chris Bradshaw, Brady Larson, and Ben Bilodeau put it down on their Dream Feature. These dudes put the effort into making sure that their setup was progressive, and always changing.

Zombie Death Crew at Windells

Richie Conklin, Oliver Bacharach and Sam Mercer, more commonly referred to as the Zombie Death Crew, spend a day in the Windells park going fast with no regrets. These dudes have great attitudes, super good style, and get extra bonus  points for the G.G. Allin in the video. I found this video over at MethodMag’s wesbite. Thanks for rollin through ZDC. You could also check out the the Zombie Death Crew blog for some funny updates, and to see what these up and comers have going on.

Best Day Ever

Salomon's Scotty Arnold with a backside grab here at Windells.

Headed to the mini West Linn skatepark with the session 5 skate campers (those kids rule) earlier this week and met a former Windells camper. He was all hyped on the new concrete park and skating with the kids. He gave me the heads up to a link on the ESPN Snowboarding blog where some of the Videograss and Salomon crew gave an overview of the “Best Day Ever” which involved skating the new concrete park here at Windells.

Camper of the Day: Tatiana

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

Each session at Windells Camp we get a huge variety of levels of skiers and snowboarders that fit into different groups with coaches to help progress their skills on the mountain. Sometimes we’ll get beginning snowboarders who just want to learn to snowboard and that was the case for 16 year old Tatiana this week.

Tatiana arrived at Windells Camp from Latin America with the goal of learning how to snowboard and had only been on snow once before in her life. With the help of Head Coach Danger Dave, she learned to turn earlier this week and by the end of the week was hitting the beginner park features.

What made you decide to come to Windells Camp?
Tatiana: I just wanted to learn how to snowboard. I found out about Windells and just really wanted to come.

Have you ever snowboarded before Windells Camp?
Tatiana: No never.

How do you feel about your progression at Windells Camp?
Tatiana: I’m really pleased. I’m turning, jumping and trying to do boxes. I just wanted to come out and be able to ride a snowboard and I think I overachieved my goals.

Who have been your coaches and how do you like the coaching at Windells Camp?
Tatiana: I had 3 coaches this week. The one I spent the most time with was Danger Dave. He was the first coach I had and helped me with the basics and then taught me to jump later.

What were you working on today?
Tatiana: Izzy helped me with my first box.

How do you like the Windells Campus?
Tatiana: It’s awesome, there’s always something to do. I really like it.

What about on-campus activities, what have you participated in this session?
Tatiana: I’ve done many sponsor nights and skateboarded. I knew how to ride but never been on ramps.

Do you think you’ll come back to Windells Camp?
Tatiana: I’ll definitely try!

Huge congratulations for Tatiana for progressing so much this week at Camp. All 3 of her coaches were stoked on her progression from beginning rider to more confident rider on the mountain and park! Stay tuned for more Campers of the Day as session 6 arrives soon!

High Ollie Contest with Candy Grind

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

Every day at camp, we have events and contests on hill for campers to participate in if they want. Rome puts on a Game of SHRED, Burton has a Spin to Win contest and Atmosphere does a different jib contest each session…and there are even more! This session, Jace from the kitchen put on a High Ollie contest on the first day on hill, to help campers get warmed up on their snowboards for a week of summer shredding, and he gave away a ton of Candy Grind gloves, too! Jace put together this video so you can see just a little of the fun that we have on hill every day. Click here to check it out on youtube.
